#BossChick, #GlossBoss, Lipstick what?!?

#BossChick, #GlossBoss, Lipstick what?!?

.
Last month I stood at the crossroads of my business. Filled with doubt in the face of daunting circumstances, I lost passion, drive, and our finances were in a very bad place.
.
But I had a big vision and God had a new path for my vision. I knew my old business was coming to an end and it scared me. I was comfortable, I had a routine down, but i was going no where and change needed to happen.
.
So when a new business opportunity came to me and God continued to bring it up in my dreams and thoughts throughout the day, I had to jump! Jump now and figure it out later was going to have to be my motto.
.
I had no experience with makeup let alone how to promote it and sell it. I definitely had no start up capital.
.
BUT....
.
I did have a VISION and a major PURPOSE!
.
It was my husband and my BURNING desire to live the life not only we want, but the life that God wants us to live.
.
And that purpose along with God's will is what made me jump. And I am glad I did!
.
2 months ago I was worried about our finances and how we were going to pay for food, let alone our bills and rent. I was scared, no I was beyond scared, I was frightened.
.
Now, I am not. It's amazing what one month of this business has done not only for me and my confidence, but for our finances. I am no longer scared. I am actually excited! Excited to continue on this amazing LipSense journey, excited to continue to follow Gods path, and excited for Rich and I to continue to follow our dreams and start living again without fear of the unknown!
.
Whatever you are thinking about doing, do it! Jump now, figure out later!
.
I did it and am so glad I did!
.
Don't let fear old you back.

Health and Fitness Tip #120 - 7 Tips For A Great St. Patrick's Day

7 Tips For A Great St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is a great excuse to have fun and to be green.

St. Patrick's Day is March 17 and this year its on a FRIDAY. If you're going to celebrate, here are some great tips to help make it a fun, safe and eco-friendly day.

1. Skip the corned beef and cabbage

Despite it being a staple of St. Patty's day celebrations, it turns out that corned beef isn't a common Irish meal after all. It was originally reserved for kings, and most Irish people did not get to eat beef until they moved to the United States. Besides beef can have a pretty large carbon footprint. So skip the corned beef, and maybe go for a nice baked potato instead. With organic sour cream and chives. Yum.

2. Be safe

St. Patrick's Day is notorious for green beer. But whatever color of liquid you imbibe, do it safely. "As you make plans to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, also make plans for a safe ride home," says Kim Marotta, vice president of corporate social responsibility for MillerCoors. (Full disclosure: MillerCoors is one of MNN's sponsors.) "Whether you choose alternative transportation, designate a driver or stay overnight at a hotel or friend's home, driving drunk should never be an option."

You can plan ahead for a safe ride home. Marotta offers three suggestions:
No matter where you are, you can dial 1-800-TAXICAB, a national taxi dispatch service that will automatically connect you to a local-area taxi company.
If you're celebrating in Milwaukee, Chicago or the Twin Cities, you can catch a free ride home, courtesy of Miller Lite.

3. Wear green, be green

Everyone likes to wear green-colored clothing on St. Patrick's Day. So why not go the extra step and wear green clothing that is eco-friendly? Opt for clothes that are made from organic cotton or other materials, use sustainable dyes, are made in the U.S.A. (to reduce shipping), and supports a good cause.

There are plenty of examples out there, but one worth trying this season is Green Label Organic, which has plenty of green-colored, eco-friendly shirts available. This month, a portion of the company's profits will be donated toward efforts to end mountaintop removal coal mining.

4. Try some Celtic music

Get into the spirit of the season with some Irish music. Don't know where to start? Try this free Celtic music sampler on Amazon.com. (Downloading music creates fewer greenhouse emissions than buying CDs.)

5. Have an eco-friendly party

If you're inviting friends over, serve drinks and food on Bare tableware by Solo. Billed as "eco-forward" products, the Bare brand includes compostable plates, recyclable cups, and plates made from plant-based renewable materials instead of plastic. If it's a small enough group, you can use reusable plates and glasses.

6. Be crafty

Looking to decorate for St. Patty's? Why not cover your home in origami shamrocks? You don't even need to use green paper. Just reuse some newspaper, magazines, junk mail or other paper that you were going to recycle. The paper gets a second use and you end up with something unique and attractive.

7. Walk if off

This year, St. Patrick's Day is just three days before the first day of spring, so it should be nice weather. Going to a parade or an Irish restaurant? Leave the car at home and walk there. Having a rich meal? Burn it off with a nice walk. Enjoying the greening nature around you is a perfect way to celebrate any holiday — and on this particular day, you can wear green while you do it!

Beauty Tip Tuesday - BlushSense

BlushSense Glamour Tips

BlushSense performs best when used in conjuction with SeneGence MakeSense Foundation.

Adding BlushSense will give you a healthy lift and glow to your face. It is simple to apply in just a few seconds and will make a huge difference in your appearance and brighten your face. BlushSense applies easy from the tube. It takes a very small amount on your fingertip, cosmetic sponge or a makeup brush.

First, make sure that your MakeSense Foundation is blended well. You may use BlushSense directly over you Daytime Moisturizer. It makesense and is a natural look to apply blush on the apple of your cheek.

Easiest to find you apple by looking in a mirror and smile. The fleshy, lifted part of your cheek is where you should apply. Blend outward and down. You can always add more to achieve your desired intensity of color.

Pouty Pink – A beautiful soft lighter shade of Pink. I recommend using LipSense Blush topped off with Lip Sense Pink Champagne to compliment Pouty Pink.

Chocolate Cherry  – This is a cool under color with a blue base. This is still a fairly light color of blush. Best used with SheerBerry and Pink Champagne LipSense as long as you are not looking to achieve a more intense cheek color.

Toasted Rose - This is my top selling Blush. It is a cool shade the achieves just the right amount of healthy glow. It looks great with our LipSense Dark Pink and topped off with Pink Shimmer.

Terra Cotta – This is a true beautiful Peach. If you are warmed toned and a medium skintone then this is your color. Try LipSense Burnt Orange topped off with Gold Champagne. Try a little Bronze Dust bronzing powder at the top of you cheek bone for a beautiful finished look.

Cherry – Intense Neutral shade with a just the right amount of red. This is best teamed with the deeper LipSense Shades like Brick, Red Cherry, Plum. Remember that you can use many of our shades of ShadowSense to slightly change your blush to suit your exact need.

COMMON BLUSH MISTAKES

Using to much color in too many places. Keep your blush on the cheek where it is most natural. The tip of your nose or the center of you forehead can appear very unnatural. BlushSense will not require as much as powder blush products.

Applying racing stripe line from cheek to the ear is a very dated look. Ease the color softly onto the fleshy part of the cheek. This will create a more balanced look.

Clashing with Lip Color. Make sure you keep warm and cool colors together. If you want assistance? Just email.

Bad Lights. Remember to check your whole finished look in natural light if possible. Some lights are dull and give a false illusion of being blended.

Health and Fitness Tip #119 - 4 Common Food Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

4 Common Food Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

1. Not Watching Your Portions

Avocados are good for you — but not when you put an entire avocado on your toast. Eating clean doesn’t mean you have free reign to eat as much as you want; there actually is such a thing as “too much of a good thing.”

Example: Hummus can be a delicious, healthy food, but a serving size is two tablespoons — not half the container you normally enjoy with your baby carrots. Be mindful of how much you’re eating: Use a food scale, measuring spoons, or portion-control containers to make sure you aren’t overdoing it.

2. Not Watching Your Sugar

By now, we all know that too much sugar in your diet is not a good thing. The American Heart Association advises no more than six teaspoons of sugar per day for women and no more than nine for men. The problem is that even if you’re cutting sugar from your coffee and kicking your candy habit, you’re only addressing the obvious sources.

Sugar (added sugar, not naturally occurring sugar in fruits and vegetables) is in pretty much everything we eat, even foods you wouldn’t think contain sugar — bread, sports drinks, salad dressings, granola bars, yogurt, and pasta sauces all contain added sugars.
Sugar also goes by many different names, so it can be hard to spot on a food label. Look for words that end in -ose and ingredients like cane juice, turbinado, dextrin, and malt syrup.

You can still eat sugar as the occasional treat — in moderation. There are times when a little added sugar may benefit you, particularly in a well-designed supplement, such as the way it replenishes glycogen in various Beachbody Performance products.

3. Drinking Your Fruits and Vegetables

Juicing is an easy way to get your daily fruits and vegetables, but that green juice may not be as healthy as you think it is. Most juicers remove the pulp (or fiber) from the fruit. But the fiber in fruits and vegetables is just as important as the vitamins and minerals in the juice: Fiber helps you feel more full and slows down the digestion of the fruit and vegetable sugars, so you don’t get that blood sugar spike.

Juices also lack fat, and fat can help your body absorb key vitamins like A, D, E, and K more easily. A smoothie with protein, fiber, and fat is a more balanced option.

4. Ordering a Salad

All salads are healthy, right? Nope. Don’t assume that a salad is automatically the healthiest or lowest calorie choice when you eat out. Example: A chicken avocado salad at a popular restaurant chain weighs in at a whopping 1,870 calories. And McDonald’s kale salad? It’s loaded with more calories and sodium than a Double Big Mac.

The culprit is usually the dressing, but the high-calorie count can often be tied to serving size (see #1) and additional toppings like cheese, nuts, and candied fruit. Don’t be afraid to ask for the extras on the side; that way, you control what to add to your salad. Chain restaurants are required to provide calorie and nutrition information, so read the fine print before your order. Better yet, check the menu online before you go and decide what you want before you get there.

Eating better doesn’t have to be hard — the key is to be mindful of what and how much you’re eating and you’ll be well on your way to crushing that “eat healthy” goal.

  3. Apply EyeSense Eye Liner very close and very thin to lash line of top and outer corner of bottom lashes.
  4. Apply Make Sense Blender under arch of brow bone to highlight and also in corner of eyes to open up the eyes.

  1. Deep-Set Eyes – Use a light shade from the lash line blending up toward brow bone.
  2. Using the sponge tip wand or eye shadow bursh, apply deep color such as Garnet, Ebony Essence, Moca Java, Copper Rose just above the crease, and blend up and out.
  3. With deep-set eyes it is important to stay close to the lash line when applying liner.

  2. Line under the eye with same color to create a smoky base.
  3. Line the eye with EyeSense on top and bottom making sure to blend the shadow into the line.
  4. Create a more almond effect by extending the lower line a bit larger than eye shape and connect on sides of eye by blending with finger tips.
  5. LashSense on top lashes only concentrating on the outer half of the eye.

Health and Fitness Tip #118 - 9 Things That Should Not Be In Your Pantry

9 Things That Should Not Be In Your Pantry

Growing up, my grandparents had their pantry under their staircase. Although it was stacked with Oma’s pickled onions and cabbage, we also used it as the coolest little fort. Today, my pantry is nothing like that awesome childhood hangout. To be honest, it’s more of a spice cupboard than anything else.
I cleared out our pantry long ago. Since then, very few junk foods have found their way back in. What do you currently have hiding in your pantry?

At the end of the day, preservatives have allowed food companies to create a range of questionable foods that can sit for years on end. From canned soup to powdered packet gravy, these items have now become a staple in most homes. Unfortunately, they could be slowly harming your family with each daily bite.

1. Refined cereals

From the fun loveable characters to the toys found inside, cereal has always been targeted towards children. The unfortunate reality is, the majority of cereals on the market are packed with GMO ingredients. They’re also covered in sugar and often void of any true beneficial nutrients — yet parents continue to buy box after box.

2. Microwave Popcorn

Get rid of food in your pantry like popcorn

There’s nothing quite like snuggling up on the couch to enjoy a big bowl of chemically-coated popped kernels, right? When it comes to microwave popcorn, the most harmful component is the bag it is popped in. Lined with PFOA, this is the same toxin that is used to line Teflon pots.

Depending on the brand you buy, there is a long list of possible ingredients, including TBHQ (a toxic additive that is made from butane) as well as trans fat and harmful preservatives. All of these ingredients create a chemical cocktail — not a beneficial snack.

Although these popcorn bags have received a lot of coverage over the past few years, it’s the butter flavoring that I find alarming. More specifically, diacetyl butter flavoring has been shown to threaten brain health and may increase beta-amyloid plaques in the brain — a clear hallmark sign of Alzheimer’s.

3. Boxed Mac and Cheese

Home-cooked macaroni and cheese is considered a comfort food. Although it may not be the healthiest side dish, at least it’s at least made with real ingredients. In comparison, I’m not really sure where to start when it comes to boxed macaroni options, complete with sketchy powdered cheese.

Thousands of children associate mac and cheese with an almost radioactive orange coloration — something which made headlines the past couple of years. The synthetic color of Kraft Dinner is just the beginning, as there’s nothing natural about this food. In fact, I won’t touch the stuff.

What to try instead: Vegetable pasta served with homemade tomato sauce.

4. Pre-packaged soup

During winter, many individuals are looking to warm up with a big bowl of soup. Unfortunately, instead of chopping onions and carrots, most people go straight for a can opener. From BPA cans to the heavy use of MSG and GMOs, it’s best to leave this sodium-packed food on the shelves.

What to try instead: A large pot of kale and bean soup. Freeze it into numerous portions for when you want a quick lunch or dinner.

 5. Chips

Get rid of food in your pantry like chips

When it comes to chips, you can never eat just one. And before you know it, your hand is touching the bottom of the bag. Being an inexpensive snack, many families fill their pantry with chip bags. Although the odd handful won’t kill you, regular consumption can contribute to weight gain, high blood pressure, nutritional deficiencies and high cholesterol.

What to try instead: Baked sweet potato or apple chips.

6. Soda

I’m not over exaggerating when I say that I have about one to two sodas a year, if that. My mom only ever bought pop when we had a birthday party. And now, it’s not something I would ever go out of my way to get as an adult. Especially because the associated dangers of soda keep stacking up in terms of obesity and disease.

In fact, researchers at Harvard found that for every additional soda consumed, you increase your risk of obesity by 1.6 times. If you think diet varieties are any better, think again. The heavy use of aspartame is resulting in an increased risk of diabetes and even neurological degeneration.

What to try instead: Carbonated water infused with fresh herbs and fruit.

7. Salad dressing

You may think you’re doing yourself a favor by eating a salad. However, if you pour on unhealthy dressing, you could actually do more harm than good. Most low-fat dressings, for instance, are marketed as the “healthy” choice, yet they’re often packed with sodium and sugar.

More importantly, low-fat dressings actually reduce your body’s ability to absorb key nutrients from the greens you consume — which is why homemade olive oil-based dressings are ideal. Although you should avoid any preservative-packed dressing that can sit in your pantry, the worst are creamy options. They can add more than 200 calories per serving.

What to try instead:  This quick, easy-to-make basil and lemon vinaigrette.

8. Juice

Get rid of food in your pantry like juice

If your juice can be stored for over a year on a shelf, it’s safe to say it’s not the most natural. Not only do the majority of juices lack true nutrients, they’re also packed with sugar. In fact, most juices provide the same intake of sugar as soda. Also, since juice is heavily processed, the fiber content of the fruit itself is essentially non-existent in the finished product.

9. Packaged Gravy or Sauces

You may be a sucker for fries and gravy, but having packets of gravy on hand isn’t doing your health any good. If you look at the ingredient list, your head will spin trying to pronounce each additive. This also includes condiments such as BBQ sauce, ketchup and mayonnaise.

What to try instead: A homemade hot sauce or herb-infused dipping oil made with ingredients fresh from your windowsill or back garden. You can also utilize fresh lemon juice, a flavorful salsa or spices.

If you truly want to improve your health, the “magic” formula is pretty simple — eat well and remain active. This year, start with your pantry. Eliminate all processed foods as you move towards whole food options. Create new habits that promote your well-being today!
