Figuring Out Your Skin’s Undertone
If you browse through beauty blogs and makeup trends, then you may be familiar with the phrase, “undertone”. But what does it really mean? And how do you figure out your own skin undertone? For starters, an undertone is NOT the same thing as your skin color. Rather, your undertone is the color underneath the surface of your skin. That’s why the rule of thumb is to check your veins when figuring out whether you have a cool, neutral, or warm undertone.
For blue or purple veins: You are cool, and will look terrific with silver jewelry. Your skin has a pink hue with red tones. Deep pinks, blues, purples, and jewel-tones are best for your undertone.
For blue-green veins: You are neutral, and both gold or silver jewelry will look great on you. Your skin has subtle yellow undertones. Blush-toned pinks are ideal for your undertone.
For green or olive veins: You are warm, and will look lovely with gold jewelry. Your skin contains very little redness and tends to tan more easily. Warm earth tones like reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and browns are optimal for your undertone.
The knowledge of your skin undertone can help determine not only what color jewelry matches you, but also figuring out what works well when choosing color cosmetics.
Once you have figured out your skin undertone, order flattering shades of SenseCosmetics® to complement it! For example, MakeSense Original Foundation and MakeSense Advanced Anti-Aging Foundation comes in a variety of blue-based and yellow-based shades to match every skin tone. LipSense and SenseCosmetics products also include a wide range of shades to enhance the color of your eyes, cheeks and lips.
