Recap of Phase 2 of P90X

As you all know, 8 weeks ago I started the P90x journey. One of my goals with being a Health and Fitness Coach is to do all the Programs that Beachbody comes out with and P90x was up next.

I just finished up with Phase 2 and Started phase 3 today! I started doing P90x without being 100% into the program and the workouts. I honestly wasn't excited for the longer workouts, and I just didn't have the drive or desire to do P90x. However, I committed to it and refused to quit, especially the first week and not giving it the chance it deserved. I mean SOOO many people RAVE about this program, I knew it had to be good, right?!? And I couldn't quit, because I honestly felt it working within the first few days. And now look at me! I am through Phase 1 and starting the middle of Phase 2 this week! The time is really flying by! And I am excited with the results I am seeing and feeling so far! I can't imagine what I will be seeing and feeling by the end!!




During P90x, I have continued to eat a WHOLE plant based diet! I have allowed myself a treat here and there, because the hubs, who is a football coach, likes to go out and celebrate when they Win, which seems to be only when they play at home!

Along with my eating whole plant-based foods I have upped my calories, because this is an intense program and the workouts are longer (45-90 minutes) Also the program guide called for it! The p90x book actually says I should be eating between 1800 - 2000 calories a day. To me that is a TON. However, I am eating any where from 1500 - 1900 a day, it really just depends on the meals I have planned out for the week. But to be honest with you, my calorie count is not something I am worrying about. My philosophy is if I am hungry then I will eat. Plus eating Whole Plant-Based foods makes me feel 100% better than I did when I was eating anything and everything.

So why am I continuing to follow a whole plant base diet? Well, in August, I did the Ultimate reset and after doing the reset, I felt TOO good to go back to the old ways of eating. Plus this way is soooo much fun! Its always something different and my husband, LOVES the plant base diet because there is always something new to try. Which I need to be honest with you, before we did the Ultimate Rest, I got lazy and we pretty much had the same thing every night for dinner. Doing this diet, I really didn't think I would be able to continue with it or with P90x. I thought I would have to give up one or the other. But I don't! I feel great!!

Also the middle of week 2 of Phase 1 I broke down and started using the Beachbody Performance Line (Pictured below). Why?!? Because this Line of products helps your body push harder, go longer, and recover faster! And guess what?!?! IT IS! I have more energy, feel great, am able to push harder, and recover faster!

So what am I taking and when?

I have energize (Pre-workout drink) before the workout, hydrate (drink that keeps your muscles hydrated) during the workout, chocolate protein recovery shake immediately after the workout! And at night 30-60 minutes before I go to bed I take the vanilla recharge shake!

I was honestly nervous to start these since they technically aren't PLANT BASED but they are seriously helping and they don't count as calories or containers because they are helping my body perform and recovery since I am doing a HIGH intensity and LONGER program.

Is it all a Scam?

Beachbody it's just another scam. It's just another fad diet! Shakeology doesn't work. The workouts are fake. Nobody can lose that much weight. It doesn't work. Shakeology is a rip off.

Those are a lot of things that not just myself hear, but other coaches hear too.

Wanna know something?!? I thought the same thing! I will never forget watching an infomercial of Hip Hop Abs and saying out loud, yeah that program is not going to give you abs, it's fake! I also thought the same thing with T25. I thought you can't get results like that in 25 minutes.

BUT I gave T25 a shot, not expecting anything but a cardio workout to help me maybe lose a pound or 2.

And guess what?!? I was in for a shock! T25 didn't just help me lose a pound or 2, it helped me lose 13 pounds! It gave me the 6 pack I NEVER had before and it gave me my confidence back! Plus it introduced me to a whole new world! A world where workouts actually worked and where I got to help others find the confidence I found!

Beachbody and their programs, like Tony Horton says in P90x, are real live DNA removal! You sweat! You get your butt handed to you! And you get results!

But doing it on your own is hard! And I know that I would not have stuck with T25 if it weren't for my challenge groups!

Challenge groups are where the magic happens! Challenge groups are where like minded individuals come together to support, motivate and keep each other accountable! I know it sounds funny and I thought, seriously how can a challenge group on FB work? But it does! These groups allow everyone to workout on THEIR time table. They allow everyone to have a safe place to come and ask questions and reach out for support when they need it most! Challenge groups aren't a bunch of strangers to me they are family!

If you have had doubts, if you don't think any of the programs or Shakeology work, rethink, try it! Don't let those thoughts stop you from these program and shakes. They work, I know first hand, I have seen it from my challengers and from my own family.

But if you are looking for a quick fix, if you are looking a magic pill, then Beachbody and Shakeology are not for you.

Beachbody and Shakeology are hard work, it's worth it but you are going to have to sweat and make sacrifices to get the results you want.

Help Wanted!

2 years ago I made a decision that I never thought would have led me to where I am today!

2 years ago I decided to order T25 without telling my then fiancé. We were avid lifters and thought cardio had nothing on lifting.

However, the thought of 25 minutes of cardio sounded amazing and something I could do with my lifting. So I ordered it! I fell in love with T25 and wanted to tell everyone and anyone about it. So I decided to become a coach! Again, I did not tell my then fiancé what I was doing.

Why? Because 1. I needed a change, I needed to do something that I loved while he was coaching and busy. And 2. My gut was telling me to do it, to jump and figure out all the rest later!

So I messaged my coach and told her I was going all in! I was going to drink Shakeology, do the program and become a Coach!!! I didn't want to start as a discount coach, I wanted to go full in!

I love helping people and I love health and fitness. By combining the two, it sparked a fire in me that would be stronger than I had ever felt or had before!

Now 2 years later, I am not failing! I am leading a team of strong women that are building their teams. I am leading a team that is ranked in top 300 out of 300,000 coaches! I am leading a team that is working towards ending the year as an Elite coach!

2016 is on its way, which means the busiest time of year is about to hit for me! And I need your help!

Health and Fitness Tip #47 - 2 Mistakes Made when Eating out

Mistakes We Make When Eating Out
 
Mistake #1
Did you know you’re bound to consume roughly 20% more “mindless” calories during a night out if you fail to call ahead than if you were to have a reservation? Weight loss research has shown exactly this.
 

And it makes sense. You’re hungry—that is, after all, why you’re at the restaurant. Not likely you’re going to just sit there for an hour. Instead, it’s much more likely that you’ll give in to the temptation of having a drink (or two) and partaking of an appetizer.
 

 Extra, needless calories that can simply be remedied with a little forethought.
 
 

Lesson #1 – Make a reservation or at least call ahead to cut down your “temptation” time.
 
 
 
Mistake #2
 

Did you know that if you pay with plastic you’ll likely spend more (and eat more) than if you settled your bill with cash? Research has also proved this. People spend, and subsequently eat, around 30% more when they pay via credit card. Simply put, when paying with money you’re borrowing, it’s very easy to lose track of how much you’re spending, and much easier to order that extra app, desert, or larger entrée.

 

Lesson #2 – Set a reasonable budget for your meal and carry cash to pay for it. It will force you to work within those limitations and you won’t easily overspend (and over-indulge).

 

Between the lessons learned from both of these studies, you just might save yourself from consuming a dreadful extra 50% in waist-expanding calories the next time you enjoy a night out on the town!

NEW RECIPE!!!! - Italian Quinoa Skillet Meal

I don't know about you, but I grew up in a household that every other day was a pasta dish. It was easy and convenient for my mom, plus she LOVES her pasta. However, when I was diagnosed with Celiacs Disease I had to cut it out. 14 years ago the Gluten Free Food especially the pasta wasn't the same. A lot of it was soggy, gross, and tasted like cardboard. However, now that I have been introduced to Quinoa, I have been able to add those childhood foods back in.
 
Quinoa, in my opinion is so much better than any box pasta gluten free or not. PLUS quinoa helps you burn belly fat, so to me its WELL worth it! Plus you can do so much with quinoa and you can eat it hot or cold!!!
 
 
Here is an amazing Italian Dish using quinoa. This is husband approved and if I had kids I think they would really enjoy it too. This is a meatless recipe. However, if you wanted to add ground turkey to it, you definitely could!
 
 
Italian Quinoa Skillet Meal

Ingredients

2 cups of quinoa

4 cups water

1 jar of Organic Tomato Sauce

1 cup of mozzarella cheese

1 cup of prosciutto

 1 cup of chopped spinach

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon of dried basil

 Directions:
 
Cook Quinoa by placing quinoa and water into a rice cooker of or a pot. 
 
 Add cooked quinoa to a skillet with pasta sauce, prosciutto, cheese, spinach, garlic and basil.   
 
You can add any Italian flavors you like.   
 
Turn on heat and mix all the flavors together for 10 minutes. 
 
Turn off heat and serve the meal.

Transformation Tuesday - Jess - Ultimte Reset

JESS - THE ULTIMATE RESET

Meet Jess D. 4 weeks ago she started her journey on the Ultimate Reset! She wanted to get back on track and get ready for the wedding she was going to be in. So she made a HUGE decision and decided to do Beachbody's hardest program, the ultimate reset!

1. I am not going to lie, You have to meal prep if you want to be successful! And its A LOT of meal prepping.

However, with this program you GAIN a sense of accomplishment, you get out of the fog and can work harder, more diligently and more clear! Your body needs a good cleanse 1 time per year and this is the perfect way to do it. You EAT, you aren't in the bathroom all day long, and you learn to drink more water (which your body needs!!!).

Happy Birthday to me AND you!!!

 
So I normally don't post on the weekends but this weekend is special! Today is my birthday!! I really can't believe its here already and that is already October!! This year has flown by! So why am I posting?

Today I turn 32 years old today!!! Crazy!! I can honestly tell you that I not only FEEL and LOOK better then last year, BUT I actually feel and look better than I did when I turned 21!!! AND I am actually 25 pounds lighter then I was not just 11 years ago but just 3 years ago!

Health and Fitness Tip #46 - The good and the bad forms of Dairy

 
When it comes to Dairy we all love it. However, its not the best for our bodies. People handle their dairy intake differently. Some people can eat a lot of it. Others can't eat any of it. And yet others can eat it but it effects some part of them.
 
For me Dairy STRESSES me out. I never knew that about it, until I went off it for the Ultimate Reset. Now when I have it, which is maybe one time every 2 -4 weeks, I feel the effect in my gallbladder and with my hormones! Especially the next day!
 
So are there any forms of GOOD dairy? There are actually. Below I have a list for you of the good dairy and the bad dairy. Check it out. And see what you could try and maybe avoid. 
 
 
 
 
Healthy Forms of Dairy with Super-Nutrients that Protect Your Health:

•Pasture-raised cream (aka, grass-fed)

•Pasture-raised butter

•Aged cheeses made from pasture-raised milk (European cheeses are generally grass-fed) -- Note that aged cheeses are generally more digestible than non-aged cheeses since microbes have already partially broken them down.

•Yogurt - only unsweetened, plain, or plain greek gets my vote (organic or grass-fed is best of course)

•Kefir - fermented (cultured) milk with 2-10x more probiotics than most yogurts. Kefir is the healthiest, most digestible form of dairy available and is known to heal many digestive problems (7 - 50 Billion probiotics per cup)

•Lassi - another form of fermented milk, Indian style, and similar to Kefir.
 
 
 
 
Unhealthy Forms of Dairy:

•Homogenized/pasteurized commercial milk - homogenized milk fat is thought to be harmful to health due to the microscopic fat particles that are formed from the homogenization processing.
 

•Yogurt that's loaded with sugar or artificial sweeteners (which is most brands)
 

•Processed non-aged cheeses such as American cheese or cheese spreads
 

•Skim milk or fat-free dairy of any type -- There's a reason that nature provides fat in this food source.  When us foolish humans artificially remove all of the natural healthy fat from dairy, studies show that more health problems are associated with dairy in that specific case.  You need full-fat dairy to get real health benefits, not skim milk or fat-free cheese or yogurt.

NEW RECIPE!!! Chicken Broccoli Casserole

Chicken Broccoli Casserole
 
 
 
This casserole is amazing and great to make as an appetizer too. Its great on weekends or when you are busy and need something quick, make it ahead of time, freeze and then cook it the day you need it!

 Ingredients:

2 tablespoons coconut oil, divided

4 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 medium white onion, diced (use less onion to cut carbs, if desired)

Sea salt and pepper

8 oz. mushrooms sliced

3 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup full fat coconut milk

2 eggs

Cooking Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a casserole pan with half the coconut oil and set aside.

Steam the broccoli until just barely cooked and set aside, uncovered.

In a sauce pan melt the coconut oil, brown the onions and season with salt and pepper. Add the mushrooms, saute until cooked and move the pan off the heat.

Transfer the broccoli, mushroom, onions, and shredded chicken into the casserole pan distributing evenly.

Mix the broth, coconut milk, eggs, nutmeg with a generous pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl with a whisk and pour it over the contents of the casserole dish.

Make sure the mixture is spread evenly and all the contents are covered.

Place the casserole in the oven and cook for 35 to 40 minutes until done in the middle.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Transformation Tuesday - Steph L.

 
Transformation Tuesday!!!  




This is Steph and this is her transformation. She has been doing Beachbody programs and drinking shakeology for a year+ now and her transformation isn't just about losing weight! Its about her TOTAL transformation of MIND, BODY, and SOUL. When Step first started she was overweight and miserable. But now a YEAR later, Steph is TRULY happy with herself. She actually LOVES herself, which is not conceded at all. You know a lot of women struggle with loving who they are and being in their own skin. But because of shakeology, workout programs, and a community Steph has learned to be Happy and Confident and she has learned to love the journey

 Sure, she has lost all  her baby weight, which was 40ish lbs. That's AWESOME. BUT what she GAINED from her journey, her programs, her daily shakeology is so much better!!

She's gained confidence, friendships, a new sense of  herself worth, incredible knowledge of health & fitness, a sense of being, and LOVE and PASSION for helping others!! I don't know about you, but to me that is WAY better than losing weight!!!

How she feels today compared to a year ago is truly indescribable. And it has now become her job and passion to share that with others and help others feel the same way!! She wakes up every day wanting to help as many people as she can!! And if she can help just one person get to the place that she is at today, she will feel as though she has successfully done her job!!

That is the GREATEST thing about being a customer and a coach! You learn to love yourself first and then you get a burning desire to pay it forward and help others FEEL as amazing you do! Talk about rewarding in so many ways!

Check out these 3 Tricks! They no only help you lose weight but they help you get / stay healthy! Plus when your kids or husband comes home hungry, instead of looking through the cupboards and cabinets they will just grab what's right in front of them. So not only do you benefit from these tricks but so does your ENTIRE family!!!
 
 


Trick #1 – Have a fruit bowl in the house. Did you know that those that have a fruit bowl in there house, weigh less than their next-door neighbor who doesn’t. Have at least two different types of fruit in the bowl and keep it in a high-traffic area.



 
Trick #2 – Keep it on the down low.  Other than your fruit bowl filled with colorful options, it’s a good idea to remove other foods from your kitchen counter.
A study by Cornell University, found that people who had chips or cookies visible weighed about 10 pounds more than people with bare counters. Even more surprising, folks who kept boxes of breakfast cereal on the counter weighed about 21 pounds more, and those people who had soft drinks on the counter weighed 25 pounds more!
 

 
Trick #3 – Downsize.  While you may have heard this before, eating off smaller plates really does make a tremendous difference. Try using a 9- to 10-inch plate. These plates will reduce your portion sizes but have you thinking you’re eating more!

NEW RECIPE!!!! - No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake Bites Gluten-Free, Vegan

No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake Bites Gluten-Free, Vegan

 
 
This recipe is AMAZING!! Also easy to make and great for the FALL season and of course FOOTBALL Season!!! Hubby loved them and will be on the list of treats to make during this beautiful Season!


 Yield: 16-20 squares

Ingredients

Crust:
1 cup pitted dates
1/2 cup almond flour
1 tbsp cacao powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp almond milk

Cheesecake layer:
1 1/2 cups raw cashews
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup canned pumpkin
1 tsp pumpkin spice

Instructions

Soak the cashews in water for 1 hour. Discard the water. Line a loaf baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Place the crust ingredients in your blender and pulse until the mixture comes together; this should take about 1 minute. Press this mixture evenly onto the bottom of the prepared loaf baking pan and place it in the freezer while you prepare the cheesecake topping.

Place the cheesecake ingredients in your food processor and pulse until smooth. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the crust in the baking pan and spread it evenly. Freeze the dessert for at least 2 hours.

Cut the cheesecake into squares before serving. Keep leftovers covered in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Does your job make you feel guilty?

 
Do you ever struggle with competing priorities in your life?

Have you ever been at work and felt guilty that you were not with your spouse or children? 

Have you ever been with your children and felt guilty about not getting your work done? 

At the end of the day do you feel guilty about what you didn't get done at home or work, instead of feeling great about what you did accomplish?

I have! Actually I did on a daily basis! No, I don't have kids, but teaching isn't a 9-5 job. So much has to go into teaching that you end up working before school starts and either staying late or taking stuff home with you to do.

And it's not just at the beginning of the school year, it's ALL year long. It's everyday! You plan lessons to be amazing, you have papers to grade, parents to meet with, school meetings before and after school. It's never ending and it takes away from the people that mean the most to you.

No I don't have kids yet, but being a teacher for 8 years didn't allow it. It didn't even allow me to have a pet!! 

Over dramatic? No! I couldn't buy a dog and stick it in a crate for 10+ hours a day and then come home and fill guilty walking it when I should be planning or planning when I should be playing with the dog.

And you couldn't take a day off without feeling guilty or wondering how bad it's going to be when you get back. Plus with teaching when you take off its more work then it's worth! The lesson plan for the sub ends up being 10+ pages long and then you know they don't follow it! Ahh!!!

Yes, this example is only of teaching but, I know other jobs, that are the same! 

But guess what?!? There are also jobs, I guess that's what you would call it, that are completely the OPPOSITE!!! 

Yes you read that right! Now I have a job, where I am MY OWN BOSS! Yes I set the hours I work and don't work. And on the days I don't work, I don't have to spend extra hours writing lesson plans or feeling guilty about taking off.

And the best part is I can spend quality time with my husband when he gets home and I don't have to feel guilty one bit. 

Oh and now I can get a pet if I want to. Or even better I can have kids and not worry about who is going to raise them and feel guilty not being there for them like my mom was for me and Rich's mom was for him!

Transformation Tuesday - Amy F.

Transformation Tuesday!!!

 
 
This is Amy! And this is her story.....
Amy is a mom of 3 kids, that she had in 3 years. She was unhappy with herself, she had no confidence, and her past was a burden that she continued to emotionally deal with and emotionally eat over it.
 
However in Jan 2014. she met her coach Allyson. She believed in her coach and what she was doing. Her coach was there for  her, supported her and helped her figure it all out. Unfortunately life happens, and Amy had to have surgery and this time it was a biggie- a hysterectomy that would put her out of commission with her workouts for almost 8 weeks. 

However, in Aug of 2014, Amy had her turning point, her AHA moment. It did not come without sacrifice. It did not come without sweat, tears and a little bit of puking. It did not come without this her believing she might not be able to stick with it. But she did and she started to feel the changed inside of her as well. She felt more powerful. She felt stronger in every sense. She wanted to leave the house. She wanted to be present and really present and not dreaming about her next "fix" aka the food. 
 
Now we it's Sept. 15th, 2015, and LOOK how far she has come!!! She transformed not just by losing 88 pounds...yep there you have it- 12 pounds away from hitting the 100 pound loss mark. The strength, the knowing who she needs to surround herself and her family with to be the best she can be as a mother, a friend, a wife, a coach, a fitness instructor and a good person all around...
 
Now she is paying it forward. She is helping others transform not just their bodies but their minds, their spirits, and their confidence!!!
 
 
And it was all possible with her coach, her challenge groups for support, her  Beachbody trainers, and Shakeology.

Phase 1 of P90x is over!!

As you all know, 3 weeks ago I started the P90x journey. One of my goals with being a Health and Fitness Coach is to do all the Programs that Beachbody comes out with and P90x was up next.



I am through Phase 1 of the program and on to the Recovery Week before starting Phase 2. I started doing P90x without being 100% into the program and the workouts. I honestly wasn't excited for the longer workouts, and I just didn't have the drive or desire to do P90x. However, I committed to it and refused to quit. Plus I honestly, felt it working within the first few days. And I have now made it past Phase 1 and am excited with the results I am seeing and feeling!

During Phase 1, I have continued to eat a WHOLE plant based diet! I have only allowed myself one treat the past 3 weeks and that is because the hubs, who is a football coach, wanted to go out and celebrate their Home Opener Win!  I have also upped my calories for this program since it is longer workouts and the program is more intense.


The p90x book says I should be eating between 1800 - 2000 calories a day. To me that is a TON. However, I am eating any where from 1500 - 1900 a day, it really just depends on the meals I had planned out. However, my calorie count is not what I am worrying about. My philosophy is if I am hungry then I will eat.

Like I said, I am continuing with a whole plant base diet. After doing the reset, I felt TOO good to go back to the old ways of eating. Plus this way is soooo much fun! Its always something different and my husband, LOVES the plant base diet because there is always something new to try. Which I need to be honest with you, before we did the Ultimate Rest, I got lazy and we pretty much had the same thing every night for dinner. Doing this diet, I really didn't think I would be able to continue with it or with P90x. I thought I would have to give up one or the other. But I don't! I feel great!!

The only thing I noticed during the first 2 weeks of P90x was that I was exhausted and to the point I struggled to stay awake during the day. It wasn't because I wasn't eating enough, I was definitely eating more than my share. Doing P90x completely shocked my system and I needed something to help me perform at my best and still be able to function through out the day.

So the middle of week 2 I am changed that. How?  I started the Beachbody Performance Line (Pictured below). And guess what?!?! The performance line was the answer! I have more energy, feel great, am able to push harder, and stay awake through the day!

So what am I taking and when?

I have energize (Pre-workout drink) before the workout, hydrate (drink that keeps your muscles hydrated) during the workout, chocolate protein recovery shake immediately after the workout! And at night 30-60 minutes before I go to bed I take the vanilla recharge shake!

I was honestly nervous to start these since they technically aren't PLANT BASED but they are seriously helping and they don't count as calories or containers because they are helping my body perform and recovery.

Health and Fitness Tip #44 - The last 3 Foods you should NEVER Refrigerate

Did you know that refrigeration can actually cause certain foods to spoil faster?  It's true.  In fact, here are 7 foods that you'll never find in my refrigerator.

Onions - If you love soggy onions while also causing the rest of your food to taste and smell like onions, then you'll definitely want to refrigerate your onions immediately.  Otherwise, try storing them in a paper bag (within a cool, dark cabinet) for maximum shelf-life.

 
 
6.  Avocados - Much like the banana, refrigeration shuts down an avocado's ripening enzymes.  If you want guacamole next month, this may be OK, but if you're like me, you probably want guacamole today.
 
 
7. Coffee - Contrary to popular belief, coffee is best stored at room temperature to allow the natural oils within the coffee bean to activate its pungent aromatic scent.   On the flip side, refrigeration can actually cause coffee to absorb odors from other foods in your fridge.  Onion flavored coffee anyone?  Don't make that mistake twice guys...
 
 
 
 
If you have stored any of these items in your refrigerator, its okay! I have done it all too! Tomatoes and Avocados were a real shocker to me, but it makes sense. Think about it, when you go to the grocery store they aren't in the with the refrigerated stuff or being cooled on a cooler.
