5 Healthy Swaps you can start making to your Grocery List today

Here are simple swaps that you can make the next time you go to the grocery store. Plus these swaps will save you hundreds of calories.

Remember Small Changes = Big Results!

So don't just read this list, make sure you ADD these to your grocery list ASAP.

1. Instead of skim milk try Unsweetened cashew milk, almond milk, etc.

You know deep down that whole milk isn't your best bet, but even fat-free milk is fairly high in calories and sugar. Although it has a nice amount of protein, an 8-oz. serving has about 90 calories and 12.5g sugars. Nut milks are super creamy and incredibly low in calories.

Plus you can use it anywhere you'd use dairy milk: smoothies, cereal, coffee, and more. Look for unsweetened nut milks in original and vanilla -- both shelf-stable and fridge varieties. Check out the brand - Almond Breeze (they make an amazing almond-cashew blend), So Delicious, and Silk.

2. Instead of starchy carbs try Cauliflower

Cauliflower is a great low carb alternative to potatoes and white rice.

I don't have to tell you, that Cauliflower is the hottest new trending vegetable! However, if you are like me, you probably don't like it raw so why would you like it a different way? I am here to tell you to give it a try. I hate cauliflower in its original form, but when you change it around and use it in different forms it takes on a different flavor!! Plus it slashes all those carby calories.

You want mashed potatoes? Try mashed cauliflower. You want pizza? Try making it with a cauliflower crust. You want rice? DIY with riced cauliflower.

3. Instead of pasta try Zucchini

Zucchini is a GREAT way to replace your pasta as a low carb alternative.
The tubular green squash is your gateway to the lowest-calorie noodles around... It has a fraction of the calories of traditional pasta! Use a spiral veggie cutter (like the Veggetti) or a standard veggie peeler to slice the zucchini into noodle-like strands; then lightly cook, and use like ordinary pasta. Life changing!

4. Instead of bread try Cabbage!

Cabbage leaves makes a great low carb bread alternative

Tired of lettuce buns as a sandwich starch swap? Tired of Salads? Want your Bread back? Don't reach for that slice yet! Instead give cabbage a chance!

All you need to do is just steam the cabbage , and use the now-pliable leaves to hold all your sandwich fixins. Great for burgers, grilled chicken, deli meats, humus wraps... You name it! You'll save oodles of calories with this single swap.

5. Instead of fatty baking ingredients try canned beans.

Yes you just read that right! I said BEANS!!!
I SWEAR beans make a  great low calorie alternative to baking ingredients!!
One of my favorite tricks these days is to use pureed beans as the main ingredient in dessert batters. You've seen Fudgy Flourless Chocolate Cake or flourless brownies or flourless blondies, and more! Stock up, and make sure you're signed up for the daily emails so you don't miss out on the flourless recipes I post!!
