Health and Fitness Tip #2: Fitness With a Friend

Find the best fitness friend

A workout buddy is hugely helpful for keeping motivated, but it's important to find someone who will inspire—not discourage. How do you do that? Make a list of all your exercise-loving friends, then see who fits this criteria: Can your pal meet to exercise on a regular basis? Is she supportive (not disparaging) of your goals? And last, will your bud be able to keep up with you or even push your limits in key workouts? If you've got someone that fits all three, make that phone call.

If you don't, what do you do? That is where I come in. I love my job and I love helping people. I  run private online fitness groups. The fitness is done in your own home but its the group that keeps you going! They are all people in the same boat, starting out for the first time, trying to find the time, motivation, etc. When we are feeling down, need a kick in the butt, need help, posting in the group gets you the support and motivation you need, not just from your coach but from all the other ladies and gentlemen in the group.

Fitness with a Friend - can be done in person with your pal or online with a group of fitness minded people starting out or continuing on a journey. Don't let this be an excuse that you don't workout, make it be reason. Get the support you need and get moving.

P90 Fitness Group Starts Monday!!!

This weekend I got to do the P90 workout live with Tony Horton!! It was amazing! And then I came home to my P90, that was delivered this past week! P90 is literally a program for anyone and everyone! From new moms to busy moms and dads to people who are scared of the gym or just hate it to older people to younger people to over weight people to fit people!

This program has 3 phases that start out slow and work you up to a faster pace. By the time you are done in 90 days you won't just have lost weight and learned to love working out, but you will be ready to take on a new and more challenging program!

I am stating my P90 Beta Test group on Monday, October 13! I only have a few spots left! Interested? Want to learn more about it? Message me, like this post, or email me at jgerity83@gmail.com

ALSO for every program purchased, $5 will be donated to wounded warriors! Now till October 31 if you purchase the P90 fitness package, $5 of it will go towards wounded warriors in honor of Tony Hortons father who recently passes away. AMAZING!! My goal is to get 20 people to do P90 by October 31 to be able to donate $100 but then on top of that I will double the contribution!

Help me in supporting the wounded warriors and get fit and healthy at the same time!!!

The Secret to Insanity's Pure Cardio

Hi! Today I started my morning out with Pure Cardio. This one is tough. Its not interval training and there are no circuits which mean no set breaks or time to drink water and catch your breath. However, today I decided to try something new. With this workout the first 10 minutes are dedicated to a warm up which is like a workout in itself, then 7 minutes of stretching. Once the Stretching is over you get a 30 second water break and then you start PURE Cardio for 15 minutes straight, doing a move for a minute straight! So what did I do? I broke it down. I told myself to go hard for 5 minutes straight and then after the 5th move / minute I stopped for a quick water break and then jumped back into it. I did this 3 times and I honestly felt better, stronger, and able to actually push harder and stronger then I did last week when I tried to go straight through for 15 minutes. This really helped and I know there will be days I need to break it down smaller and do it every 3 moves / minutes. And that is okay. I don't want to jeopardize my form and I don't want to get hurt.

So what did the water have to do with it? Did you know:
60% of your total body weight is water

75% of your muscles is water

Assists in the regulation of internal body temperature

Protects and cushions vital organs

Aids the digestive system

Don’t wait until you are thirsty! Thirst is an early sign of dehydration and if you wait until you are thirsty, you have already begun to dehydrate.
Drink water before, during, and after exercise.

Dress for the environment.
During the warm months exercise at the coolest time of the day – early morning or late evening, and wear the lightest clothing that you can (lightweight t-shirts, shorts, low-cut socks).

During the cold months, wear several layers of clothing so that you can remove layers as you begin to sweat.

This is my 3rd bottle of water already this morning. I drink 70 oz just during Insanity. Make sure you are drinking enough. I always try to drink 225-300 ounces a day.

Day 6 / Start of Week 2 of Insanity

Yesterday was day 6! I repeated the workout I did on Tuesday, Plyometrics Cardio Circuit. Each time I do this work out, I like it more and more. I actually felt stronger and had more endurance this time around then I did the first time doing it. I love the feeling afterwards of accomplishment. I am excited I finished week 1 and Can't wait to see what week 2 brings.

Week 2 Meal Plan

Here is my meal plan for this week. With Insanity you definitely BURN a ton of calories and are seriously HUNGRY all the time. I make sure I eat every 3 hours max. I am doing a combination of the 21 Day fix and Insanity meal plan. My goal is to eat 1500 calories every day, if not more and I am making sure that they healthy foods and not junk food or processed foods.

Plyometric Cardio Circuit Day 2 of Insanity

Good Morning!!! Challenge Accepted!! Today was the true test of Insanity. It was 42 minutes long and I burned 400 Calories!!!  I told my husband that I probably could have burned more but I was learning the moves and trying to pace myself and not jeopardize my form. I did my best and am forgetting the rest. I  know that each time I do this workout I will get stronger. I am proud of myself for how well I did do the first time through.

So what was the work out like? Well it was 42 minutes long and the first 10 minutes was a fast pace warm out circuit. We went through the circuit 3 times each, starting at 30 seconds per move working up to a minute per move. It was good and got the heart rate up and the blood flowing for the morning. Then he moved into a 10 minute stretch where we stretched all our muscles, especially the legs. After that we moved into 2 different circuit's that were fast paced and up and down.  The circuits went through 3 times each getting longer each time through. There wasn't a lot of jumping in this workout. There were 3 different types of plank moves, where I had to slow down and go at my own pace and I had to stop and get into childs pose for a few seconds to stretch my arms.

This work reminded me of how he sets up Speed 2.0, Core Speed, and Speed 3.0 in T25 however, instead of it getting shorter by round 3 it gets longer. :)

Am I in love with this program? Not yet, but I see myself falling in love with it. It was definitely the switch up I needed. I can't wait to see my results in 60 days!

Day 1 of insanity

Good Morning!! Happy Monday! Day 1 of insanity is complete! I did the Fit test this morning. It was 26 minutes long. There was about a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. The fit test was 8 different moves done for a minute straight. The moves were different types of squat jumps, push ups, planks, kicks, power jacks, power knees, etc. All the moves were power moves that worked every inch of your body. I am not going to lie, I am actually sore after doing it. But it felt great and I am excited to see how my numbers increase over the next 60 days. The fit test is done again on day 15, so we will see then. Tomorrows work out is Plyo Cardio Circuit, can' wait to update you on how that goes. I am doing all these workouts in the morning. I am morning person and prefer to start my day with my workout. So 6 AM every morning is when I will be doing Insanity.

Here are my Fit Test results for Day 1.
